Preventative Care and Maintenance - made2order outdoor designer furniture

Maintenance
All outdoor wooden furniture requires some form of maintenance throughout its lifetime. We recommend you re-stain with one or two coats using a reputable Oil Stain every season. made2order uses "Wattyl Forestwood outdoor Oil Stains"  



Winter or other wet seasons
During the wet season we recommended you bring your setting in out of the weather and store in a shed, if not possible, purchase a waterproof furniture cover (similar to a barbecue cover) and place your setting under an eave or somewhere there is protection away from rain and moisture



Washing wooden furniture
Clean about twice a year with a mild detergent and a gentle scrub brush
 

 Pool Owners
If your outdoor setting is close to a pool or spa, use a hose to wash them once a week, as chlorine is a risk to most finishes
 

 Grassed areas
If possible, avoid situating wooden bottom and legs directly on top of grass. The wetness from the ground may promote early decay of the wood over time. If in your situation, it is difficult to avoid this, try standing the table and chair legs in saucers of wood preservative for several hours to add protection
 

 
Moving your setting
We recommend to have 3 to 4 strong bodied adults available to assist you with the moving and shifting of your setting. Each setting is very heavy (in particular the large dining settings, the Bar and Bar Leaner Settings) due to their weight they should not be dragged or hauled across the ground, this will cause harsh damage to the bottom. Lift and carry your setting at all times when moving from place to place

Spills
In the event of spills make sure to clean up all of the liquid, as opposed to just a quick wipe. Unless the sun is at its hottest that day, never assume that the sun will take care of drying it thoroughly. If the wood takes all day to dry out, airborne pollen or other dirt may get a chance to form an invisible yet sticky film on your furniture surface

Made to order products Indoors or Outdoors
made2order products may be used indoors or out for all year round entertaining. For indoor use we recommend attaching or gluing rubber or felt padding to the bottom of your product to avoid damage to flooring. We have seen our products in rumpus rooms, offices, internal garages, conservatories, family rooms, lounges, bars, pubs, cafes, indoor events and even in a tent. Depending on your place, made2order outdoor designer furniture may be enjoyed 365 days a year!

The above information should be considered as one of those areas where a small investment in time and effort gives you a large payback. The tradeoff is longer life for your beautiful outdoor furniture
