Which timber should you use:
Both timbers are most suitable for made2order outdoor designer furniture. Either timber is a great choice depending on your budget...

RADIATA PINE:
New Zealand pine is a remarkably versatile timber renowned for exceptional machining properties, durability, lightness, and structural strength. The strength of NZ pine compares favourably with most traditional construction lumber. H3 products are for above ground use outside exposed to the weather and dampness. Typical use of H3 products include, decking, fence pickets, fence rails, pergolas, exposed bearers and cladding. Resistant to rot and attack by termites or borers.

Radiata H3 Pine uses: Pine is possibly one of the most versatile timbers in the world, with the correct grade selection, treatment, and drying it performs extremely well in every end use application. Considered a “general purpose” timber, it is widely used for heavy duty construction, building, furniture, joinery, mouldings, packaging, weatherboard, sarking, decking, fencing, and landscaping

MACROCARPA:
Macrocarpa timber is durable, chemical free, eco-friendly, sustainable and a beautiful timber.  Great for timber flooring, timber decking, sarking, paneling, outdoor furniture and many other uses. Macrocarpa is softwood, honey brown in colour with a natural luster, has a natural resistance and therefore does not need any artificial protection against insect or fungal attack, is recommended both for its structural strength and decorative appeal, has low shrinkage factor from green sawn to dry, a beautifully scented timber, and needs no artificial treatment. Outside and above the ground macrocarpa is equivalent to H3 pine in durability. Inside where the timber is not subject to the elements, it will last virtually indefinitely.

Macrocarpa uses: Pergolas, landscaping, exposed rafters and beams, T & G Panelling and sarking, flooring overlays, feature gates and fencing, slabs for kitchens & bar tops, shop fittings, signs,  tables, boat building, cabinet making, wood turning and carving, fence battens, stairways and balustrades, laminating, picture framing, tree stakes, outdoor furniture

Example photos shown below are a Macrocarpa finish

The KINGPINE setting below was especially made for the TVNZ show on channel one, "Mucking in" televising mid year 2009 (shown in Pine finish below)

  1. Brilliant Design, Brilliant Quality

    Posted by Monique - Auckland

We ordered a massive bar and stool set from Pete, every step of the process was followed up and well communicated back to us by Leonie.

The design and quality of the bar was incredible and received many many comments. It is the centre piece of the garden and will get a lot of use.

    Thanks Pete & Leonie.

    Monique

  3. Bigmac luxury all the way for us

Posted by Mark & Irene, Whitianga

    Hi Pete & team

Thank you for the tremendous service you have given us, seldom found in todays modern world. Our BIGMAC is just awesome, it's bigmac luxury all the way for us, we couldn't have wished for a better bar setting and you're right, it is magnificent and is the total topic of conversation on many occasions.

We love it! and our guests love it! Roll on summer nights and weekends! I'm sure you'll get more orders too

The size is definitely BIG! The quality is first class and the design and thought gone into this setting is excellent. Pete you're a clever bugga. We'll definitely be back to purchase another setting in the future, we have our eye on the bigger than Texas set.

Thank you for everything! Best wishes with your business

  5. I had to make my deck bigger!

Posted by Mike & Sally - Cambridge

    Hi Pete

I am more than happy to write a review on my bar setting.

For people reading this, when Pete suggests you need a large area for this bar BELIEVE HIM! It is LARGE! because of this bar I had to make my deck bigger

We bought the KingPine and it is everything you would expect in luxury without a doubt. So easy to use, very comfortable, we had a party of 40 plus people and pretty much everyone wanted to sit at the bar. I might get a few more stools!

Sally and the girls drink wine and there is plenty room to house 10+ bottles no problem at all. The storage is far greater than we expected. Everything about the bar is big. Ice boxes are great as you can lift out and carry inside to re ice, holds plenty of cans or stubbies for us and we chill coke and spirits in the other icebox. In fact if you plan well and stock the storage areas and fill the iceboxes you hardly need to replenish, it stores and holds so much

The setting is magnificent and worth far more than $1,995.00, when you see it in person you will not be disappointed. I chose the Kowhai colour and it looks a million bucks! Thanks heaps Pete and lastly I just want to add; your workmanship is amazing as is the design! Sally has her eye on the Al Fresco setting, now that i've extended the deck we may well fit that too. I'll be in touch, cheers Pete
